FAQs
QI am always nervous of breaches of copyright with things being online. I therefore wondered if there was any way a picture can be uploaded into the shop and set up so that it can't be copied with a right click.
AStopping right clicks only inhibits the less determined as methods such as simple screen capturing (or viewing the source code and copying the URL directly) will circumvent this and many other protective approaches.
Please note that all displayed images are significantly size reduced from their originals. The resulting lack of detail also means that any copied image will have little, if any, merchantable value.
QCan you provide a brief summary of the terms used
ACollections are for linking together paintings of a similar theme.
On the Step 4 tab you assign the painting to one of the collections you have created. Simply click in the Collections box to see and select from a list of matching collections. If you have many collections just start typing a word in the collection box to view a revised list. Note that your name appears top of the list as the owner of the underlying collections, and it is from this underlying list that you make your selection. Note that if you don't create any collections you will need to assign each painting to your named master collection. This ensures all paintings will be displayed when you click the master collection link on the shop home page - if you don't assign them to your master collection you will only be able to view the painting by searching for it! Collections you have created must also be made 'visible' for them and their associated paintings to be viewable on the online shop.
Attributes appear at the bottom left of the online shop's painting page, in the Artwork Details tab. They are descriptions used to assist the prospective buyer, and will also be displayed whenever multiple paintings are selected for comparison. They are most useful when you have a single attribute that will apply to multiple paintings, and are assigned to a painting on the Painting's Step 5 tab. Note that attributes that are assigned to a painting are always displayed without the viewer having to click anywhere, so are more user friendly than entering these attributes into a paintings description.
Size is a special setting you enter on the Painting Step 3 page (as it applies to all paintings), and can be in inches or cms (set the Measurement option accordingly). These size values are displayed above the price amount on the online shop page.
QPrice entry (Step 3 tab)
APrices must be entered solely as digits without the pound symbol. An entry of a £ character will cause the price you entered to fail, setting the entry itself to zero.
QWhat are Tags (Step 2 tab)?
AThese are keywords which are used by viewers to search for and identify specific paintings. Leaving Tags empty only allows viewers to search for a painting by its title.
QArtist details
AThis option enables you to create and display a shop page containing promotional information about yourself. It isn't mandatory in any way, nor is there any rigidness in the presentation of its content. If made visible on the Shop it will appear as a clickable link on the page footer.
QImage file names
ATo successfully upload images via the image manager their file names must not include any of the following special characters
# < $ % > ! & * ' { } ? " / : \ @
